SmartDose TM is a simple, maintenance free, portable dosing system without the need for any equipment installation. The patented 'smart' pump and bottle design delivers an accurate dose of concentrated product simply, safely and swiftly.

SmartDrive (or SMARTDRV) is a disk caching program shipped with MS-DOS versions 4.01 through 6.22 and Windows 3.0 through Windows 3.11. It improves data transfer rates by storing frequently accessed data in random-access memory (RAM). Early versions of SmartDrive were loaded through a CONFIG.SYS device driver named SMARTDRV.SYS. Versions 4.0 and later were loaded through an executable file. SMARTDrive (smartdrv) is a utility that can be loaded in the autoexec.bat to create a disk cache in conventional memory or extended memory. This utility is often used boot disks as it can greatly increase the speed of how MS-DOS accesses disk drives.

Smart Dosing Pump

Those who are using Microsoft Windows instead of MS-DOS should not load this line in the autoexec.bat or while Windows is running. Users running Microsoft Windows 95 or 98 cannot load this command unless they are in an MS-DOS shell.

Availability

Smartdrv is an external command that is available for the following Microsoft operating systems as smartdrv.exe.

Smartdrv syntax

Installs and configures the SMARTDrives disk-caching utility.

/XDisables write-behind caching for all drives.
driveSets the caching options on specific drive(s). The specified drive(s) have write-caching disabled unless you add +.
+Enables write-behind caching for the specified drive.
-Disables all caching for the specified drive.
/UDo not load CD-ROM caching module.
/CWrites all information currently in write-cache to hard disk.
/RClears the cache and restarts SMARTDrive.
/FWrites cached data before command prompt returns (default).
/NDoesn't write cached data before command prompt returns.
/LPrevents SMARTDrive from loading itself into upper memory.
/VDisplays SMARTDrive status messages when loading.
/QDoes not display status information.
/SDisplays additional information about SMARTDrive's status.
InitCacheSizeSpecifies XMS memory (KB) for the cache.
Extended memoryInitCacheSize value
1 MB or lessAll
1 MB to 2 MB1 MB
2 MB to 4 MB1 MB
4 MB to 6 MB2 MB
6 MB or more2 MB
WinCacheSizeSpecifies XMS memory (KB) for the cache with Windows. If this option is not specified, smartdrv will default the wincachesize to the amount of extended memory available. Below is a basic chart of what will be set.
Extended memoryWinCacheSize value
1 MB or less0
1 MB to 2 MB256 KB
2 MB to 4 MB512 KB
4 MB to 6 MB1 MB
6 MB or more2 MB
/E:ElementSizeSpecifies how many bytes of information to move at one time.
/B:BufferSizeSpecifies the size of the read-ahead buffer.

Smartdrv examples

This command is to be placed in the autoexec.bat. It loads the smartdrv utility into memory, allows access to SMARTDrive, and disables the write-behind caching for all drives.

Specifies a size to be used with smartdrv. When a cache size is not specified, smartdrv uses all extended or expanded memory.

Smart Dos That Help People

Secure containers Full isolation per container in a multi-tenant environment

Triton SmartOS leverages Zones, a hardened container runtime environment that does not depend upon VM hosts for security. Patented resource protections insulate containers and ensure that each container gets its fair share of I/O.

Built-in networking Each Triton container has its own unique IP address

Triton SmartOS eliminates the complexities associated with VM host dependent solutions. Built-in networking offers each container one or more network interfaces, so each container has a full IP stack and is a full peer on the network, eliminating port conflicts and making network management easy.

Built-in storage Secure, isolated, resizable filesystems for each container

Triton SmartOS leverages ZFS to free container storage from VM host dependencies. ZFS storage virtualization makes secure storage management easy, while maximizing performance. ZFS' flexible provisioning, copy-on-write, and data integrity checking are an ideal match for containers, while advanced caching techniques make even spinning disks perform as fast as SSDs.

Smart Dose

Bare metal performance The speed of bare metal performance + the flexibility of virtualization

Smart Dosimeter

By eliminating layers of virtualization and running containers directly on bare metal, applications enjoy the highest possible performance. And, because you are running on OS virtualized containers, you can easily scale your applications and infrastructure up and down.
